On the occasion of the celebration of African Statistics Day for the year 2022, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) addressed a set of indicators related to the development of Africa's contribution to global emissions of greenhouse gases.
The most important indicators of Africa's contribution in 2022 are as follows:
Africa's contribution to global emissions of greenhouse gases is only about 4%.
The contribution of Egypt's greenhouse gas emissions to global emissions is 0.6%, and Egypt is considered one of the least countries contributing to global emissions.
The number of emissions from the consumption of petroleum products and natural gas in Egypt, according to the agricultural and irrigation sectors, reached (2.5) million metric tons in the year (2020/2021|).
The total amount of agricultural waste generated by some governorates of the Republic reached 3.6 million tons in 2020, distributed among the governorates of Dakahlia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharkia, Beheira, Damietta, Port Said, Gharbia, and Qalyubia.
The total amount of agricultural waste that was recycled reached 1.5 million tons distributed in the governorates of Qalyubia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Gharbia, and Beheira, with a recycling rate of 100% for each governorate.
