Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, received his Bulgarian counterpart, Georg Georgiev, in Cairo as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate on key regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Aaty welcomed the growing momentum in ties between Egypt and Bulgaria. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration across political, economic, and cultural domains.
During the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted the significance of the upcoming centennial celebration of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Bulgaria, which will take place next year. He described it as a historic milestone that reflects the depth and resilience of the partnership between the two nations.
Furthermore, Abdelatty commended Bulgaria’s official endorsement of Egypt’s candidate for the position of Director-General of UNESCO. He also emphasized Egypt’s hope for continued Bulgarian support within the European Union, particularly in expediting the approval of the second tranche of the €4 billion concessional loan package aimed at supporting Egypt’s economy.
The talks also covered a range of regional and global developments, with both ministers affirming their commitment to enhancing coordination and dialogue on issues of shared interest.
