Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel Al Wazir, recently hosted a comprehensive meeting with Alexander Ogorodnikov, First Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus, and representatives from five leading Belarusian companies.
The gathering, which included Ambassador Ihab Nasr and senior officials from Egypt's ministries of industry, transport, military production, trade, and investment, focused on advancing industrial partnerships and localizing key industries in Egypt.
Minister Al Wazir highlighted the strong ties between Egypt and Belarus, emphasizing Egypt's commitment to becoming a regional industrial hub under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership. He outlined the country's strategy to attract investments through industrial zone incentives and a supportive business environment. “We aim to position Egypt as a leading industrial center by fostering innovation and providing competitive opportunities for investors,” he said.
Alexander Ogorodnikov reaffirmed Belarus's dedication to deepening industrial collaboration with Egypt. The Belarusian delegation, which included executives from sectors such as trucks, tractors, agricultural machinery, and silos, expressed enthusiasm for working closely with Egyptian partners.
The discussions centered on enhancing cooperation between Belarusian firms and Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production, particularly in manufacturing trucks, agricultural tractors, and earth-moving equipment like loaders, compactors, and forklifts. Minister Al Wazir stressed the importance of producing high-quality, cost-effective products tailored to local needs while also targeting export markets. He noted, “Strategic marketing will be crucial in maximizing the economic benefits of these partnerships.”
A key proposal involved establishing a grain trading and processing hub in Egypt. This facility would manage the import, processing, and distribution of grain products, addressing local demands and supporting exports to Arab and African markets.
Both sides agreed on the need for regular follow-up meetings in the coming months to develop a detailed roadmap for industrial collaboration. Minister Al Wazir expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting shared goals to drive economic growth and foster industrial innovation.
