Egypt’s Ambassador to Austria, Mohamed Nasr, said Egyptian-Austrian relations are experiencing a notable surge and tangible progress in recent years, underscoring growing cooperation across political, economic and cultural fields.
In his remarks, Nasr said President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Vienna in 2018 marked a pivotal turning point in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
He noted that the visit was followed by a series of high-level exchanges, including the Austrian president’s visit to Sharm El-Sheikh to participate in the UN Climate Conference, the Austrian chancellor’s visit to Egypt in 2024, and a recent visit by Austria’s foreign minister in the new government. Nasr highlighted that Cairo was chosen as her first stop in the Middle East, reflecting Austria’s strong interest in deepening relations with Egypt.
The ambassador emphasized that bilateral relations are witnessing growing momentum on multiple fronts, pointing to expanding political coordination, economic cooperation and cultural engagement.
Nasr also stressed the importance of cultural cooperation, noting that Austria is one of Europe’s leading cultural capitals, which provides broad opportunities to enhance cultural exchange and partnerships between the two countries.
