Ambassador: Australia Plans to Invest in Agriculture, Energy in Egypt

The Egyptian Businessmen Association held a round table with Ambassador Axel Oppenhorst, the new Australian ambassador to Cairo, and members of the Egyptian side of the Joint Business Council, with the aim of discussing ways to enhance trade exchange and opportunities to increase Australian investments in Egypt.

Ambassador Oppenhorst stressed that Egypt is one of the most competitive and attractive markets for foreign investments, especially in the fields of new and renewable energy, and in tourism in light of the liberalization of the exchange rate.

He pointed out that the Australian economy is the number 12 economy in the world, and Australia is linked to trade agreements with 16 Asian countries so it is a gateway to Asian markets.

The Australian ambassador stressed the need for cooperation in the fields of agricultural research and universities in the two countries, as his country is one of the developed countries in the agricultural field and exports 50% of Egypt's consumption of beans in addition to wheat and meat, and cooperation in the areas of modern irrigation systems and water-saving applications, pesticides and spraying, noting that the most important Egyptian exports It consists of cement, carpets and fruits.
