On Tuesday, Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli insisted that his country applies relevant environmental sustainability criteria and safeguards to the national infrastructure projects.
In a statement, Madbouli indicated: "We adopted the National Environment Management and Sustainable Environment Management Plan which are tailored to our national projects and investments as well as it associated with a sustainable development approach and standards", adding that his country has also adopted the general framework of the national strategy for climate change.
"As a member of the COP26 Energy Transition Council, we have been working to promote adaptation and resilience to climate change," Madbouli pointed out.
Madbouli's remarks came during his meeting on Tuesday with the Executive Vice President of the European Commission for the European Green Deal and European Commissioner for Climate Action Timmermans Frans and a number of Egyptian officials as well as regional representatives.
It's worth noting that the UK, Egypt, in partnership with other countries alongside the UN announced in Glasgow in Feb. 2021 the Adaptation Action Coalition.
