Egypt Announces Installation of Second Level of Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2

The Nuclear Power Plants Authority announced the completion of the installation of the second level of the internal containment vessel for the reactor building in the second nuclear unit of the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, under the supervision of specialists and experts from Atomstroyexport, the general contractor and general designer of the project, and the authority.

The internal containment vessel is a cylindrical structure that will contain the nuclear reactor as well as the primary circuit equipment of the nuclear power plant. 

The second level of the internal containment vessel for the reactor building consists of 12 segments, which were manufactured at the manufacturing and production facility at the construction site of the Dabaa nuclear power plant. Each segment is 12 meters long, 14 meters high, and weighs between 60 and 90 tons.

It is worth noting that February 16 witnessed the start of the installation of the second level of the internal containment vessel for the reactor building for the second nuclear unit. The work was carried out by two teams of specialists, each consisting of more than 80 people, and the installation was carried out using a giant crane.

After the completion of the installation of the second level of the internal containment vessel, the reactor building of the second nuclear unit is now one of the tallest structures on the Dabaa nuclear power plant construction site, with a height exceeding 20 meters.
