Egypt and UNICEF Explore Cooperation on Child Protection

National Council for Human Rights Chairman Ahmed Ehab Gamal El-Din met with UNICEF representative Natalia Winder Rossi to discuss strengthening cooperation on child rights and social protection programs in Egypt.

The meeting came as part of ongoing discussions between the council and national as well as international partners working to support and promote human rights initiatives.

Talks focused on expanding joint cooperation in several key areas, including child rights, protection of vulnerable groups, youth empowerment, social awareness initiatives, education, inclusion, and social protection policies.

During the meeting, Ahmed Ehab Gamal El-Din stressed the council’s commitment to deepening cooperation with UNICEF to help strengthen child rights and promote a broader culture of rights and responsibilities within Egyptian society.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration with international organizations specializing in human rights and child protection, noting that such partnerships support the council’s objectives and contribute to advancing its work.

The chairman also highlighted that the National Council for Human Rights operates as an independent national institution in accordance with Egypt’s constitution and international principles governing national human rights bodies.

He added that the council remains committed to constructive engagement with international partners and United Nations organizations in order to benefit from global experiences and expertise that support the implementation of its mandate for Egyptian citizens.

For her part, the UNICEF representative discussed ongoing efforts related to child welfare, education, inclusion, and community development, alongside opportunities for enhanced institutional cooperation.
