On Monday, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Egypt, Jürgen Schulz, will be hosting the first Egyptian-German Development Cooperation Dayto celebrate efforts for sustainable development. Over the past 70 years, Egypt and Germany have shared strategic cooperation demonstrating a steadfast determination to maintain and expand these collaborative efforts. This event will bring together prominent representatives from government bodies, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society.
The event will be attended by H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation; H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment; H.E. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and H.E. Prof. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.
Central to the event is the theme “Partnerships for a Just Transition,” which underscores the importance of social equity and economic resilience in the shift towards a green economy. The focus will be on showcasing the fruitful collaborations between Egypt and Germany and exploring opportunities for further cooperation that will pave the way for a sustainable future.
The agenda includes an engaging panel discussion, "Bridging the Divide: Advancing Partnerships for a Just Transition for People and Planet," moderated by Dr. Laila Iskander. Additionally, a Signing Ceremony of Financing Agreements, including a debt swap agreement worth 30 million euros, will take place, signifying a commitment to tangible progress and sustainable development.
The event will display projects implemented by GIZ and KfW on behalf of the German Government, highlighting collaborative efforts in driving sustainable change. Interactive sessions designed to inspire and connect attendees complement the engaging discussions. Through storytelling and interactive displays, guests can witness the tangible outcomes of the Egyptian-German Cooperation and envision a future built on sustainable practices and inclusive growth contributing to the implementation of Egypt's national strategy 2050.
