Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Badr Abdelatty, met on Sunday with Abdallah Saber Fadel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chad, on the sidelines of the Egypt–Chad Joint Committee meetings. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanging views on regional issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Abdelatty praised the growing momentum in Egyptian–Chadian relations and the shared commitment to elevating cooperation across multiple fields. He noted that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has issued clear directives to deepen ties with Chad, which has been reflected in a series of high-level visits. These include President El-Sisi’s visit in December 2024 with a business delegation, followed by the February 2025 visit of Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport, accompanied by leading Egyptian investors. Abdelatty said these engagements demonstrate Egypt’s serious interest in advancing cooperation in priority sectors.
The minister stressed the importance of continuing to expand collaboration, particularly in the military and security fields, where Egypt is already supporting training programs and capacity-building for Chadian security forces. He also highlighted the significant progress achieved in joint infrastructure projects in Chad, notably the Egypt–Libya–Chad highway, as well as ongoing projects in road construction, maintenance, and recycling of road materials.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s interest in boosting trade with Chad, saying enhanced economic cooperation would serve the shared interests of both nations and contribute to broader regional stability and development.
