Egypt's Foreign Minister (FM) Dr. Badr Abdelatty held a tripartite meeting yesterday, Saturday, with Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, and Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, on the sidelines of the Second Ministerial Forum of the Russia-Africa Partnership.

Tamim Khallaf, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the meeting addressed developments in Libya.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for reaching a comprehensive political settlement led and owned exclusively by the Libyans, leading to an end to the division and the restoration of security and stability.

Moreover, FM emphasized that any successful path to resolving the crisis must be based on consensus among Libyan parties and support for United Nations efforts, without external interference or solutions imposed from abroad.

Furthermore, Abdelatty also stressed the importance of unifying Libyan executive institutions and creating a suitable climate for holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections, as they are the primary means to renew legitimacy and build stable institutions.

In this context, he highlighted the necessity of a stable security environment, including the withdrawal of all foreign forces, foreign fighters, and mercenaries from Libyan territory to preserve Libya's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The three ministers agreed to continue close coordination and consultation within the framework of the Tripartite Mechanism between Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia, based on their responsibility as direct neighboring countries.

This cooperation aims to support the Libyan people in achieving their aspirations for stability and development, and to enhance the security of the region as a whole.
