Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone conversation with Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf to discuss ongoing regional developments following the recent U.S.-Iran ceasefire announcement.

During the discussion, Abdel-Aati briefed his Algerian counterpart on Egypt’s continuous efforts to reduce regional tensions in close coordination with other regional partners. He emphasized the importance of building on the ceasefire declaration as a crucial step toward promoting calm and lowering escalation levels.

The Egyptian minister highlighted the necessity of prioritizing diplomatic channels and negotiations to contain the precarious situation.

Abdel-Aati further stressed that regional and international cooperation is essential to ensure the success of negotiations, reinforce the ceasefire, and create conditions conducive to reaching a broader U.S.-Iran consensus to end hostilities.

The ministers also addressed the situation in Lebanon, with Abdel-Aati condemning what he described as Israel’s aggressive attacks targeting wide areas of the country.

He underscored that such actions violate international law and undermine regional and global efforts to achieve long-sought stability. The Egyptian minister called for full respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, emphasizing that halting all Israeli attacks is vital to maintaining regional stability and preventing a slide into widespread chaos.

Both officials agreed to continue close coordination and consultations in the coming period, vowing to intensify efforts to de-escalate tensions and contain the crisis. They reaffirmed that political and diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path to avert regional disorder.
