Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, said the ministry is prioritizing a significant increase in Egyptian agricultural exports as part of a broader state strategy to open new international markets and maximize foreign currency revenues.

Farouk emphasized that Egyptian agricultural products enjoy a strong reputation in global markets, a competitive advantage the ministry intends to capitalize on by tightening quality control measures and strictly applying international standards. He said these steps are aimed at ensuring the continued flow of national crops abroad while increasing their competitive share against other exporting countries.

The minister noted that expanding exports represents a key pillar in supporting the national economy, particularly amid global economic challenges. He added that enhancing product quality and maintaining compliance with global benchmarks would further strengthen Egypt’s position in international agricultural trade.

Furthermore, Farouk affirmed the importance of ongoing coordination and close cooperation with members of parliament, describing them as essential partners in the development process.

He said the ministry is relying on such collaboration to update and modernize legislation governing the agricultural sector in line with global developments. The objective, he explained, is to remove obstacles facing farmers and exporters while creating a more flexible and efficient regulatory framework.

According to the minister, the ultimate goal of these legislative efforts is to foster an investment-friendly environment in agriculture and provide comprehensive support to Egyptian farmers, whom he described as the cornerstone of achieving national food security.
