Egypt launches the initiative “A Decent Life in Africa” during Cop27 tomorrow. Egypt aims to improve the quality of life for all residents of the African continent who live in rural areas and communities.

The initiative seeks to enhance the implementation of the goals of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement and to support the efforts of African countries to implement their contributions, by integrating climate action into sustainable rural development.

A report authored by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development confirmed that African countries will cooperate among themselves with various stakeholders and partners, to improve the quality of life in 30% of the poorest villages and rural areas on the continent by 2030, in a manner that takes into account the environmental dimensions associated with climate change.

The report added that the initiative is characterized by a simple and effective administrative structure to avoid duplication and bureaucracy, and will be launched on Saturday, November 12, 2022, on the sidelines of the "Agriculture and Adaptation Day", in the presence of leaders and representatives of various African countries and partner parties as members and friends of the initiative.
