Egypt Advances 46 Spots in Government AI Readiness Index

Hala El-Saed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development said on Tuesday that Egypt advanced in the Government Artificial Intelligence (AI) Readiness Index by 46 points.

The minister reviewed the basic features of the investment plan initiatives for the fiscal year 2023/24 in the telecommunications and industry sectors, during a meeting of the Senate Financial, Economic and Investment Affairs Committee.

During the committee meeting, El-Saed referred to the inauguration of the Egypt Services Center in Aswan, followed by the Sharm El-Sheikh city center, and the foundation stone for the North Sinai Center was laid, and next month the Egypt Services Center will be launched in Alexandria Governorate.

 She explained that the Egypt Services Centers are considered model and mechanized centers to provide government services at the highest level of quality, following up that the project aims directly at facilitating the citizen and saving time and effort by obtaining services from one place that combines all services as an alternative to moving between the multiple agencies providing services in different places.

She pointed to the development of Egypt's competitiveness in Network Readiness Index, as Egypt's ranking improved by 18 places from 91st in 2014 to 73rd in 2022, pointing to the development of Egypt's competitiveness in the government's readiness index for artificial intelligence, which improved by 46 points from 111th in 2019 to 65th in 2022.
