Egypt Advances 30 Spots in Staff Training Index

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala Al-Saeed said that Egypt advanced in the 2019 Global Competitiveness Index, as the country jumped 30 spots in the Extent of Staff Training assessment.

Al-Saeed pointed out that this progress, in addition to the positive outlook of several international financial institutions confirm the success of the Egyptian state.

This came in a report issued by the ministry on Egypt's position in the competitiveness index in the areas of Skills, Business dynamism, Innovative Capability, and sub-indicators that Egypt has made remarkable progress in.

She added that the package of reforms implemented in recent years have contributed to achieving tangible progress towards sustainable development goals.

Al-Saeed pointed to the improvement of Egypt's ranking in the "Skills" pillar, as it advanced 30 places in the "Extent of Staff Training"  to rank 75th in 2019 compared to 105th in 2018. Also, Egypt improved in the "Digital Skills Among The Active Population" sub-indicator to the 44th position compared to the 70th in 2018, advancing by 26 spots.

The report also indicated that Egypt advanced by 22 positions in the "Ease of Finding Skilled Employees" to 87th spot compared to 109th in 2018. The country also improved in the "School Life Expectancy" to the 82nd spot.

According to the report, Egypt ranked 95th in the "Business Dynamism", and this pillar includes several sub-indicators, including the "Insolvency Regulatory Framework" , in which Egypt advanced 19 places to occupy the 69th position in 2019 compared to the 88th in 2018. Egypt also advanced by 16 spots in the "Time to Start a Business" ranking to claim the 71st position, compared to the 87th.

Also, the country's ranking improved 14  positions in the "Willingness to Delegate Authority"  to occupy the 88th spot, compared to the 102nd in 2018.

The report also pointed to the improvement of Egypt's ranking in the "Innovation Capability" to occupy the 61st position. The Innovation pillar contained three sub-indicators, including the "State of Cluster Development" in which Egypt advanced 16 places to occupy the 23rd position compared to the 39th rank.

Moreover, Egypt jumped 13 positions in the "Diversity of Workforce" indicator to the 12th spot compared to the 25th in 2018.

Finally, Egypt occupied 77th place in the "Multi-stake Holder Collaboration" compared to the 85th a year earlier, advancing 8 spots.
