EFA member Ehab El-Komy has stated that Carlos Queiroz has initially agreed on keeping his job as Egypt national team manager.

In September of last year, Queiroz was appointed as Egypt national team manager after the dismissal of Hossam El-Badry.

Since then, he led the Pharaohs to the semi-finals of the Arab Cup in Qatar and the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

He was also close to the 2022 World Cup qualification but his side was eliminated after losing to Senegal in a penalty shootout.

According to EFA member Ehab El-Komy, the Portuguese head coach is indeed close to signing a new contract with Egypt as he initially agreed on keeping the job.

“EFA members have different opinions but the majority believe that Queiroz should stay as he can improve the quality of football in Egypt,” El-Komy said.

“Some say that Queiroz didn’t achieve anything with Egypt national team but I disagree, reaching the final of the Africa Cup of Nations was not easy.

“Next week we will have a meeting in order to see what exactly will we do. If Queiroz keeps his position he will have the freedom to choose the members of his technical staff.
