Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister, said that the state has taken several precautionary measures to counter the Corona virus - Covid 19. The measures include suspending studies in schools and universities as well as flights to and from Egypt.

In the same context, the Prime Minister decided to reduce clusters by lessening the numbers employees in state institutions; all of this is to limit the spread of the new Corona virus among inpiduals.

Abdel Ghaffar noted, during a live broadcast on the official page of the Higher Education ministery, that the suspension of studies will run for two weeks. In this period, schools, universities and institutes will benefit by reducing gatherings in these places, but this does not mean that the study will stop; rather it is intended to help the state complete its precautionary measures to limit the spread of virus.

Meanwhile, the Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister met Egyptian university officials to work on communicating information and lessons using digital transformation and websites.

But the Ministry has been working on this file for more than a year and a half.

For the sake of information infrastructure in universities, it is possible in the near future to apply more and maximum degrees of technology in education in a large way, not only distance education, applications or educational electronic platforms.

“Also, as for the mid-term exams, it is not reasonable that we as a ministry, think about something that that will negatively affect students,” Abdel Ghaffar reported.

The Universities Supreme Council will meet next Saturday to give the opportunity for discussion in order to reach a result for the student and the faculty, stressing that what is happening is an exceptional and unexpected circumstance, so decisions cannot be made for unexpected matters and we know nothing about them during the next week.
