Eddie Van Halen Passes Away at 65

Renowned guitarist Eddie Van Halen, lead of iconic rock band Van Halen, has passed away at the age of 65, his son Wolf Van Halen announced on Tuesday.

Wolf, Eddie, and Valerie Bertinelli's son revealed on Twitter that his father died Tuesday morning after a "long and arduous battle with cancer".

"My heart is broken and I do not think I will ever fully recover from this loss," he added.

Bertinelli married Van Halen on April 11, 1981. The couple separated in 2001 and porced on December 20, 2007. However, they remained friends, even after their relationship ended.

In 2009, Van Halen married actress Janie Liszewski.

Bertinelli also took to the platform to pay a tribute to her ex-husband, stating that her life changed 40 years ago when she met the guitarist.

"You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang. Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you kept your gorgeous spirit and that impish grin. I am so grateful Wolfie and I was able to hold you in your last moments. I will see you in our next life my love." the actress tweeted on Twitter.

It is worth mentioning that, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, known as Eddie Van Halen,  was an American musician, songwriter, producer, and inventor. He was born on January 26, 1955.

Van Halen alongside his brother, Alex, began performing together as teens. They formed the core of what would later become the iconic American rock band, Van Halen, after meeting David Lee Roth.

The renowned guitarist alongside his brother Alex formed a band in 1972. Two years later, the band changed its name to "Van Halen".

He released, over four decades, more than a dozen albums together.

The renowned guitarist collaborated with many famous musicians such as Kiss bassist Gene Simmons, Nicolette Larson, Michael Jackson, and Black Sabbath.
