From February 15 to 17, EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso will travel to Morocco to meet with representatives of the public, commercial, and civil sectors.

Meetings with Aziz Akhannouch, the head of government, Nadia Fettah, the minister of economy and finance and governor of the EBRD, Leila Benali, the minister of energy transition and sustainable development, Nizar Baraka, the minister of equipment and water, and Mohammed Sadiki, the minister of agriculture, are among the President's engagements.

The President will also meet with Abdelatif Mazouz, President of the Casablanca-Settat region, and Omar Kabbaj, Advisor to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, during her visit.

President Renaud-Basso will meet with Nezha Hayat, President of the Moroccan Capital Market Authority, as well as senior market professionals, to review recent developments on the capital market. In the banking, corporate, and small and medium-sized company (SME) sectors, she will also meet with a number of EBRD private sector partners.

The EBRD is committed to assisting Morocco's economic development, regional integration, and potential for a green economy, as well as fostering equality of opportunity, particularly with regard to addressing youth unemployment and gender issues, President Renaud-Basso said in a statement prior to her visit. The Bank increased its involvement in Morocco in 2022 by spending €528 million, with record levels in the private sector and in support of the country's transition to a green economy.

“We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership under a new country strategy to be finalised later this year, which will complement Morocco’s New Development Model,” the President added.
