The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and UNICEF have launched a €500,000 grant program to support vulnerable children and families in Gaza.
The funding, provided through the EBRD’s West Bank and Gaza Trust Fund, will be used over the next 12 months to deliver essential water, sanitation and hygiene services, along with targeted cash assistance for families most in need.
The initiative is expected to improve access to safe water for around 50,000 people, including more than 23,000 children, while providing financial support to nearly 1,400 families. Special attention will be given to households caring for injured children or children with disabilities.
Combining emergency water services with digital cash assistance, the program aims to help families meet urgent needs and cope with difficult humanitarian conditions.
The support comes as around 1.7 million people in Gaza, including more than 800,000 children, remain displaced. The program will also contribute to providing temporary shelter and basic living conditions for affected families.
UNICEF continues to deliver essential services across Gaza in areas including water, sanitation, education, child protection, and healthcare.
