Egyptian Ministry of Health has settled the controversy about RSV seriousness which was raised among people especially parents. So the Ministry identified the virus and its symptoms on Sunday.

The Ministry stated: "RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms, and it is the most well-known virus that causes respiratory symptoms all over the world including Egypt in seasons change."

"Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious, especially for infants and the elderly." The Ministry said. "RSV is the most common cause of bronchitis and pneumonia; a lung infection in infants under the age of one year."

The Ministry reviewed the RSV symptoms saying: "The symptoms usually appear on the RSV infected within 4-6 days after the infection."

"The symptoms are runny nose, lack of appetite, coughing, sneezing, fever and wheezing. They usually appear in stages, not one stage in children infected with this virus, and irritation, lack of activity and difficulty breathing might be the only symptoms."
