Dwayne Johnson Tops Forbes' List of Highest-Paid Male Actors

For the second year in a row, Wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne Johnson is the best-paid actor in Hollywood.

Johnson, 48, topped Forbes' list of highest male earners with $23.5 million, according to an annual tally released by Forbes magazine on Tuesday.

The 48-year-old actor, also known by his ring name "The Rock", earned $87.5 million from June 1, 2019, to June 1, 2020, Forbes revealed, including a $23.5 million check from Netflix for his upcoming film, "Red Notice" and his 'Project Rock' fitness wear line for Under Armour Inc.

Johnson made slightly less in 2020 than he did in 2019, after earning $ 89.4 million last year for starring in Jumanji: The Next Level, as well as several other projects.

Ryan Reynolds, who co-stars with Johnson in "Red Notice," came in second in the Forbes list. He earned more than $20 million apiece on, "Six Underground", and "Red Notice".

Actor-producer Mark Wahlberg, star of Netflix action-comedy "Spenser Confidential," finished third with $58 million, followed by actors Ben Affleck with $55 million, and Vin Diesel with $54 million.

Next on the list were Indian actor, Akshay Kumar, the only Bollywood star in the top 10, landed in sixth place with earnings of $48.5 million. Most of his income came from product endorsements, Forbes said.

Rounding out the list were "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, actors Will Smith, Adam Sandler, and martial-arts star Jackie Chan.

The magazine releases a separate list of highest-paid actresses for the same period, are yet to be announced. The earnings of the top ten actresses on last year’s list totaled $314.6 million.

Last year, the "Black Widow" star, Scarlett Johansson has nabbed the title of the world’s highest-paid female for the second year in a row.

Johansson, 34, topped Forbes' list of highest female earners with $56 million in pretax earnings from June 1, 2018, to June 1, 2019 – thanks largely to her role as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
