Dutch airline KLM has grounded seven Boeing 787 aircraft due to technical issues with a refueling component, leading to the cancellation of at least three flights from Amsterdam.

The Dutch news agency ANP quoted KLM as saying, "Although there is no safety risk, all seven aircraft are undergoing urgent maintenance and will remain grounded temporarily."

The three canceled flights were bound for Mexico City, Chicago, and Portland, and approximately 650 passengers faced significant delays as a result of the issue.

According to KLM, the issue relates to a component used to refuel the aircraft. KLM has a fleet of 228 aircraft, including 24 Boeing 787s, primarily used on long-haul flights.

This comes as aerospace giant Boeing reported a $123 million loss in the first quarter of this year, down from a $343 million loss in the same period last year. Revenues rose 18 percent to $19.5 billion.

While the company affirmed its goals of increasing commercial aircraft production while strengthening its safety efforts following major accidents last year that caused it huge losses, Boeing is now facing the risk of a freeze on its aircraft deliveries to China due to US tariffs, a market that is one of Boeing's most important.
