Dubai is pioneering a new era in railway maintenance with the implementation of an artificial intelligence-powered system for monitoring infrastructure. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

The automated system represents a practical model for leveraging cutting-edge technology in the transport sector, aiming to improve operational efficiency, enhance safety standards, and reduce reliance on traditional inspection methods.

The innovative system allows for the application of proactive maintenance strategies through advanced diagnostic technology, contributing to an extended lifespan for infrastructure and reducing the cost of regular maintenance by as much as 25 per cent.

Transport authorities in Dubai have stated that the system is currently being activated on selected sections of the metro lines, with plans for a comprehensive rollout across all routes following successful technical and operational evaluations.

Authorities are also exploring the possibility of extending the AI-powered system, or similar technologies, to other transport modes, such as tram networks, adapting it to the specific infrastructure and operational requirements of each system.
