Albanian singer Dua Lipa announced Monday on Instagram the release date for her new song “Dance the Night” from Greta Gerwig's movie “Barbie”.
“This Barbie has a song coming this week… FRIDAY MIDNIGHT BST,” the pop star captioned.

The post included a video of her donning fluffy heels, mimicking the instantly iconic shot of Margot Robbie’s arched foot in the Barbie trailer, before blowing a kiss at the camera over a gleaming disco groove that offers just a single tantalizing lyric: “Just come along for the ride!”.
British Standard Time is a full five hours ahead of the East Coast, which means the Barbie track will arrive on our shores ahead of the New Music Friday at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
The announcement got plenty of love on social media, with the official Barbie Instagram account writing, “Can’t wait” with three heart-eyes emojis, and Donatella Versace adding, “She’s a Versace Barbie” with a wink and a butterfly. Mark Ronson also left a series of alternating pink heart and fire emojis in the comments — possibly hinting at his involvement behind the boards on the track.
Dua will also be featured in the upcoming live-action film, which stars Margot Robbie as the main Barbie and Ryan Gosling as the original Ken.
It also co-stars Issa Rae, Nicola Coughlan, Hari Nef, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, and more as different versions of the doll and various Kens, including Simu Liu.
Other surprise stars include Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Helen Mirren, Will Ferrell, and more.
Gerwig directed the project from a script she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach.
Robbie is also producing the movie through her LuckyChap production company alongside LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley.
The movie will also be produced by Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner and Paddington’s David Heyman.
The Barbie project dates back all the way to 2009, with Sony originally lining up Diablo Cody to write the script in 2014. Two years later, Amy Schumer was cast for the titular role from a script by Hilary Winston.
However, the project remained in development until Warner Bros. and Robbie picked it up in 2018, originally aiming for Patty Jenkins on directing duties.
"Barbie" is set to hit theaters on July 21.
