British police have launched an investigation after a collision between two passenger trains in central England left one driver dead and more than 80 people injured.
Authorities said nine people remain in serious condition, while 28 others are still receiving hospital treatment following Friday's crash.
Investigators are working to determine how a passenger train bound for St Pancras Station collided with the rear carriage of another train travelling on the same route.
King Charles III expressed deep sadness over the tragedy, according to Buckingham Palace.
The incident is one of the most serious rail accidents in the UK in recent years. Despite maintaining one of the world's strongest railway safety records, the country experienced a fatal multi-train collision in Wales in 2024, the first such disaster in more than 25 years.
