Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, met with Michel Quaroni, Italian Ambassador to Egypt, within the framework of the periodic meetings she holds with multilateral and bilateral development partners to enhance development cooperation efforts to support the country’s development vision.
The meeting was attended by Maria Michela, First Counselor for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Italy, and the Ministry of International Cooperation's work team.
Dr. Al-Mashat indicated that the debt swap mechanism enhances efforts to mitigate external obligations and at the same time stimulates development efforts.
She noted that the ministry has sent an introductory paper on the debt swap mechanism implemented with the Italian side to the development partners to introduce it and the programs implemented in its framework since 2011.
The meeting touched upon the Egyptian-Italian joint economic relations and development cooperation efforts, especially at the level of debt swap for development. For development, it is witnessing great international support.
