The Democratic Republic of the Congo has reported more than 1,000 confirmed Ebola cases, as health authorities continue efforts to contain one of the country's largest recent outbreaks.
According to the latest official figures, confirmed infections have risen to 1,003, including 254 deaths. The update marks an increase from 956 cases and 247 fatalities reported just days earlier.
Despite the growing toll, the outbreak remains significantly smaller than the 2014 Ebola epidemic, which claimed more than 11,000 lives across West Africa.
Health officials in Democratic Republic of the Congo continue to monitor the situation closely as they work to limit further transmission and prevent the outbreak from escalating.
