Dr. Inas Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture, inaugurated the second season of "Masrah Al Mowagaha 2019-2020" (The confrontation theater), which includes 300 nights and 8 performances to be presented in 14 governorates.
This was declared during a celebration held by the Artistic House of theater - headed by artist Ismail Mokhtar.
The ceremony was attended by an array of artists and public figures; it was presented by artist Sabri Fawaz on the theater of Al- Salam in Kasr Al Ain Street.
Abdel-Dayem stressed that the art of theater is one of the effective weapons against terrorism, pointing out that "Theater of confrontation" initiative is an embodiment of the culture ministry's strategy aiming at achieving cultural justice and spreading enlightenment throughout the country.
The initiative is carried out in cooperation with the ministries of youth and sports as well as civil society organizations - represented by "Asmauna" Foundation.
She added that the new season is witnessing the continuation of the messages of tolerance and to confront the extremism and exert effort to liven up Egypt's image.
She also praised all those who contributed to the success of the first and second season. The first season have succeeded in overcoming the challenges and achieving the targeted goals.
The presented spectacles included "Wilad Al- Balad", "Amer Takleef ", "Ishaa Fi Al – Medan", "Hizam Naseef" and others. This is done with the participation of 200 artists.
The minister honored the teamwork "Wilad Al- Balad", and "Amer Takleef" which rotated in two different governorates of Egypt during the last season, as well as the representatives of the parties that collaborated to make the first season successful. The representatives were: Dr. Ahmad Awwad, Head of the head of the General Organization Of Culture Palaces and Dr. Mohamed Fathi, Chairman of "Asmauna" Foundation.
It is worthy of note that the minister of Culture issued a decision in 2018 to establish a theater confrontation branch and to be supervised by director Mohamed Cherkaoui; this was decided after the success of the initiative of "theater confrontation" to confront violence, terrorism and extremism through the arts of theater.
The minister also witnessed the presentation of "Opera – Daughter of Arabi", produced by Al-Shams theater Troupe for the special needs - under the supervision of the artist Wafaa Hakim.
The show narrates in a legendary form about the special needs with the participation of more than 45 artists and the stars of the National Circus, accompanied by a vocal performance of the great artists Ms. Samiha Ayoub.
On his part, the head of the Theater's Artistic House expressed his happiness with the launching of the new season for "The theater of the confrontation" which is the largest in the professional roaming activity in the history of the Theater Artistic House.
He stressed that the map of spectacles includes the neediest places in the provinces to deliver cultural services to every citizen.
The festival included screening a documentary film of the footage and scenes from the roaming tripe of The Artistic House performances during the last season.
