According to the programme 'Wounded of the Homeland,' at least 24 Syrian soldiers have been critically injured as a result of counter-terrorist operations in Syria and are undergoing treatment at the Russian Military Medical Academy's Saint Petersburg Center.
The organisation stated that the injured have varying degrees of incapacity and require complicated interventions as well as orthopedic, neurological, ophthalmic, maxillary, and general surgery therapies.
The project is part of Syria's and Russia's ongoing military and medical cooperation, and it aims to complete the treatment of cases classed as tough and complex involving military members who have suffered serious wounds.
According to the statement, a group of Russian medical specialists examined over 100 wounded in Syrian military hospitals and assured that the results of treatment in Russia could not be predicted due to the extreme complexity of the wounds, but that they would use all of their experience to ensure the personnel's recovery.
In recent years, Russia has trained dozens of Syrian army medics, and hundreds of the wounded have gotten care.
The first lady, Asmaa al-Assad, oversees the 'Wounded of the Homeland' programme, which looks after people wounded from the start of their treatment until they find a job to support their families.
