The Dominican Republic has officially designated the Quds Force and Hezbollah as terrorist organisations as part of a broader effort to strengthen regional security and combat terrorism financing.
Under the new measures, Dominican authorities will impose strict restrictions on activities linked to both groups, including asset freezes and bans on financial transactions and fund transfers.
The decision reflects a growing trend across Latin America and the Caribbean to tighten measures against Iran-linked organisations amid increasing regional security cooperation targeting cross-border financing networks.
With the move, the Dominican Republic joins several Latin American countries that have adopted similar policies in recent years, including Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, and Paraguay.
Regional governments have increasingly focused on limiting the influence and financial operations of Iran-backed groups across Latin America as international pressure on Tehran and its affiliated organisations continues to intensify.
