The U.S. dollar ended Sunday’s trading session higher against the Egyptian pound across major banks operating in Egypt, reflecting continued pressure on the local currency in the official banking market.
According to data from the Central Bank of Egypt, the dollar recorded EGP 52.48 for buying and EGP 52.62 for selling by the end of trading.
Across leading banks, the greenback showed similar levels. At the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr, the dollar stood at EGP 52.48 for buying and EGP 52.58 for selling.
Meanwhile, the currency was quoted slightly lower at Bank of Alexandria, where it reached EGP 52.38 for buying and EGP 52.48 for selling.
At the Commercial International Bank, Egypt’s largest private lender, the dollar traded at EGP 52.48 for buying and EGP 52.58 for selling, while the Arab African International Bank recorded EGP 52.47 for buying and EGP 52.57 for selling.
Euro Declines Against the Pound
In contrast, the euro ended Sunday’s trading session lower against the Egyptian pound in most banks.
At the Central Bank of Egypt, the European currency was priced at EGP 59.92 for buying and EGP 60.08 for selling.
The euro traded at EGP 59.98 for buying and EGP 60.61 for selling at the National Bank of Egypt, while at Banque Misr it reached EGP 59.89 for buying and EGP 60.61 for selling.
Other banks recorded slightly varied levels. At Bank of Alexandria, the euro stood at EGP 59.77 for buying and EGP 60.50 for selling, while the Commercial International Bank quoted the currency at EGP 59.88 for buying and EGP 60.63 for selling.
The euro also traded at EGP 60.03 for buying and EGP 60.78 for selling at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Egypt, while Al Baraka Bank Egypt listed it at EGP 59.85 for buying and EGP 60.58 for selling, and Suez Canal Bank recorded EGP 59.90 for buying and EGP 60.06 for selling.
