Dog Brutally Stabbed with Knife to Death in Matariya (Video)

A video has gone viral on social media showing the brutal and tragic stabbing dog to death by a number of Egyptian young men in El-Matariya district in Cairo.

Despite attempts of some residents to save the dog from their hands, those young men were reluctant to stop stabbing the dog until it died of wounds.

In this photo, the dog is seen helplessly after being stabbed to death by men carrying large knives, blood was spread on the ground near the dog and its yelping echoes heard through the streets.

The young men said that they stabbed the dog in such a brutal way due to preying on their goat.

On her part, Hanan Deebes, the co-founder of the Animal Protection Foundation, condemned the brutal act against the dog, calling for bringing those responsible for the incident to justice.

Outraged, the Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals (ESMA) has filed an official complaint urging those responsible for the brutal act to be brought to justice.

In solidarity with the dog, social media users have called for justice by raising awareness of the incident using the hashtag #كلب_المطرية

It is noteworthy that a mass shooting of stray dogs took place in Egypt in 2007 and early 2013. With hundreds of animals dead and their blood left to rot on the streets.

Several episodes of violence against animals, especially street dogs, have pushed the Egyptian media to highlight some of these incidents and shine a light on animal rights organizations.

The first publicized incident was in December and involved a female dog named Heart, who was rescued after being tortured and burned by a caustic substance thrown on her. The second incident was the beating and slaughter of Max, known in the media as “Dog al-Ahram.”
