A study by the Egyptian Center for Thought and Studies confirmed that the past ten years witnessed a remarkable development in the health sector in Egypt, as the state was keen to launch many health initiatives aimed at advancing the public health of citizens within a framework of justice and fairness and achieving comprehensive health coverage.
From its inception until March 2023, the campaign succeeded in performing one million 567 thousand and 780 operations in 11 medical specialties, such as heart surgeries, heart catheterization, orthopedics, conjunctivitis, tumors, cerebral catheterization, brain and nerves, kidney, liver, and cochlear transplants, in addition to surgeries. The doctors also performed surgeries for chest birth defects in children, and bone marrow transplantation, for 17 billion pounds.
However, the initiative contributed to reducing the waiting time for patients to undergo surgeries and equality between them in all specialties, from a waiting period of up to 400 days to about 17 days only.
