In the south of the Saqqara archaeological area, where the tombs of senior statesmen from the Old Kingdom era lived, the joint French-Swiss archaeological mission discovered a mud-brick mastaba with an imaginary door bearing distinct inscriptions and drawings, belonging to a doctor named “Titi-nebfu,” who had lived during the reign of King Pepi II.

Dr. Mohamad Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, stressed the importance of this discovery, as it is an important addition to the history of the archaeological area.

For his part, Dr. Philippe Colomber, head of the archaeological mission, explained that preliminary studies indicate that it is likely that the mastaba had been robbed in previous eras, but the walls remained intact and bore exquisitely beautiful engraved and painted inscriptions.
