Designer Abdelhak Mohammed: Every Design I Present Is A Special Painting

Distinguished Egyptian fashion designer Abdelhak Mohammed presented a new summer 2021 collection.

The collection includes 25 designs and is characterized by high elegance and the art of draping with relying on materials that highlighted the designer’s ideas.

Mohammed is distinguished by his high creativity and artistry, while at the same time expressing his thoughts in an applicable way so that each design can be worn to different occasions, which is what made his designs the first choice for high-class women.

In a new interview with “SEE”, the designer shared the most important characteristic of his new collection.

* Bohemian drape

The collection was distinguished by the drape, which was missing from the fashion scene for years and needs imagination and a designer's perspective.

The designer used the drape with fabric, specifically the Bohemian drape. He also presented many designs in lace and embroideries.

“I used the taffeta, crepe, and shantung fabrics, which have certain characteristics that make it a little dry and give the standing shape that facilitates their formation,” added Mohammed.

He noted that the corset was inspired by the eighteenth century, which is characterized by the open chest dress, adding: “The drape is tightened from the chest and is a bit bohemian from below,".

Mohammed continued: "We also find Middle Ages corset featured inconspicuous way in most dresses as it gives a graceful shape to the body. I also showed it in some designs,".

*Summer colors

The designer is famous for his love for black, but in this collection he presented refreshing summer colors, not only because they are a trend but also because he found in them a refreshing summer spirit.

The collection featured colors such as yellow, orange, fuchsia, and different shades of gray.

* Lengths and fabric shaping

The designer is interested in shaping the design into something special that adds and harmonizes with the wearer.

He shaped the designs with fabric and the art of draping.

"I was keen for the length of the dress to be varied, thus I did not rely on the symmetry and specified length for a design, so you find a high-low dress with opening, which made each design has a unique case and a special fingerprint, " added Mohammed.
