Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa reviewed progress on Egypt’s high-speed rail network with Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir and other officials.
Eissa said the project is a major national initiative with economic and social impact, linking governorates and supporting investment and development.
El Wazir said the network will connect the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, support trade, and link industrial and agricultural areas with ports. He added that it will also improve access to tourist destinations and integrate with other transport systems.
The project is expected to extend about 2,000 km with 60 stations, serving up to 2.5 million passengers daily and transporting around 15 million tons of goods annually once fully operational.
Officials also reviewed progress on the main lines and construction work, including stations, tracks, and rolling stock.
