Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Samar el Ahdal held talks with Head of the Near East, Middle East and North Africa division at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Mario Sander, during his current visit to Egypt.

The talks tackled ways of enhancing economic cooperation and establishing a more structured institutional framework to support bilateral partnership.

Both sides also discussed the possibility of launching negotiations for a new phase of the Egyptian-German debt swap program, scheduled to be introduced in December 2026.

The talks also covered prospects for strengthening cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, building on the outcomes of the Egyptian-German governmental consultations held in Berlin in November 2025.

The German side further expressed its interest in expanding trilateral cooperation in sustainable development among Egypt and African countries, particularly as Egypt prepares to host the African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit, along with a business forum set to take place on its sidelines in June in Alamein City.
