Between the war on terror and the strife against the Coronavirus pandemic many martyrs fell yesterday.

Ten servicemen were martyred due to a terrorist bombing at Bir al-Abd in Sinai.

Today another martyr fell on the front-line waging war with the Coronavirus. He is the sixth martyr among the team termed as the White Army: Professor Dr. Hisham Al-Saket Professor of Pediatric Surgery and Deputy-Dean of Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.

He was infected with the Coronavirus two weeks ago while was working at Al-Ainy University hospital. Also his wife, Dr. Sherine Al-Gayyar, professor at the same faculty of medicine, was infected. Before she recovered, he had been infected and his condition deteriorated quickly.

Dr. Al Saket was later transferred to the Al -Oubor Hospital for Isolation of Ain Shams University where and was placed on a ventilator. He was followed up by his colleagues professors of critical cases at Kasr Al-Ainy and Ain Shams under the supervision of Dr. Mahmud Al-Matini, President of Ain Shams University.

However, attempts to save him did not succeed, and he died this morning. President of Cairo University, his colleagues and his students mourned him. He was beloved, respected and greatly appreciated by all around him. Everyone praises his morals and administrative skills at the faculty.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Khosht, president of Cairo University, said all the teaching staff and students feel the deep sadness for the loss of a respected, high-ranking figure and a prominent professor of Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, adding that God Almighty has recovered his deposit, as no human being evades that fate.

Al-Khosht said, "God Almighty may have mercy upon him and make him dwell in his gardens, and he inspired us and his family patience and solace."

A number of colleagues and friends of the late Dr. Hisham Al Saket mourned on the pages of social networking sites, as he was one of the most active and influential professors and was keen to impart knowledge to the younger generations and did everything with calmness and modesty. Whoever asked him to do anything he did it in every way.
