Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, on Tuesday, that the concept of transformation in energy is a necessity and a strategic need, in addition, it is not only related to combating climate change.
Mitsotakis said in his speech on the third day of COP27 that trade balance and competitiveness faced several challenges for decades, therefore, the world is working on strengthening the competitiveness in the field of wind and solar energy.
He added that Greece is a pioneer in the field of renewable energy as half of the country's electricity is based on wind and solar energy, adding that Greece is among the top ten of countries that use wind and solar energy.
Mitsotakis asserted his country's ambition to double its dependence on renewable energy to export energy to Europe, alongside transporting green hydrogen from North Africa to Europe.
