Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen announced his country’s intention to enhance its presence at the Rafah crossing as part of international efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and support stability in the region.

According to Alqahera News, Rasmussen said that Denmark aims to contribute to training Palestinian police forces and expand cooperation in security and service sectors to help strengthen the Palestinian institutions’ ability to manage their affairs effectively.

He stressed that Denmark believes any long-term solution must involve a greater role for the Palestinian Authority—not only in administering Gaza but also in shaping the vision of an independent Palestinian state—as an integral part of achieving lasting peace.

The foreign minister added that Denmark looks forward to taking an active part in the upcoming Gaza Reconstruction Conference, scheduled to be held in Egypt later this month. He also praised Egypt’s pivotal role in coordinating international efforts to rebuild Gaza and consolidate the ceasefire.
