Denmark has officially commenced its two-year tenure as a member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2025–2026.
In a statement released today, the Danish Embassy in Cairo expressed pride in Denmark's election to the council, highlighting its commitment to upholding the high principles of the UN Charter during this pivotal role.
Amid rising global crises and increasing polarization, Denmark reaffirmed its dedication to rule-based multilateralism.
The country pledged to approach its Security Council responsibilities pragmatically, emphasizing collaboration to promote international peace, security, and the protection of human rights and dignity.
Denmark also emphasized its readiness to work closely with other member states—both within and beyond the council—on pressing issues affecting global stability, peace, and the well-being of the planet.
