Denmark has decided to boycott the activities of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos in protest against what it described as a violation of its sovereignty in the Greenland file.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Davos Forum administration had sent official invitations to officials and companies from Greenland to participate as an independent entity, a move Copenhagen considers a breach of established international norms.
The ministry affirmed that Greenland is an integral part of the Kingdom of Denmark, adding that the forum’s actions constitute interference in Denmark’s sovereign affairs and undermine internationally recognized principles governing state unity.
The decision reflects growing sensitivity surrounding the Greenland issue amid broader geopolitical tensions, particularly between European and U.S. positions on Arctic affairs.
