Demonstrations against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan renewed in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, on Thursday, after signing Nagorno-Karabakh truce.
Thousands of protesters gathered in the central streets of Yerevan, calling Pashinian a "traitor" for signing a Russian-brokered truce with Azerbaijan on November 9, reinforcing Baku's territorial gains in a six-week war over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Approximately 24 demonstrators have been arrested by the police, while the others continued their protests in other streets in the city center.
Earlier this month, Pashinyan signed the tripartite statement with the Russian presidents Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, regarding the ceasefire in Karabakh, which stipulates that the Azerbaijani side shall retain control over all the areas it seized during the new round of military escalation and deploying Russian peacekeepers in the disputed territory.
Many Armenians considered this document a declaration of surrender by the Yerevan government; however, Pashinyan defended his decision and declared that he had no intention of leaving office.
