The Ministry of Public Business Sector revealed that the demand for sodium hypochlorite used in manufacturing bleaches and disinfectants increased by 800% amid efforts to counter the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Ministry stressed that the Egyptian Company for Chemicals (ECC) was able to meet the customers requirements despite the huge increase in demand by more than 800%.

The ECC has increased production capacity from sodium hypochlorite, which is used in the manufacture of disinfectants and detergents to 120 thousand tons annually to meet the market requirements.

As the COVID pandemic storms the world, Sodium hypochlorite, which is one of the most powerful disinfectants that eliminates viruses and germs, is used extensively to disinfect and sterilize surfaces, buildings and equipment.

The company has satisfied the needs of citizens and companies, including ministries, companies, streets and hospitals, to carry out sterilization and disinfection work within the precautionary measures that the state follows to confront the coronavirus.
