The Philippine Office of Civil Defense announced on Friday that the death toll from heavy rains and flash floods caused by Typhoon Tino, which recently swept through the central regions of the country, has risen to 188 dead and 96 injured.
The office reported, according to the Philippine channel ABS-CBN in its English-language broadcast, that 135 people are still missing, noting that the typhoon caused damage to infrastructure and losses in agricultural crops, in addition to destroying nearly 9,600 homes.
