The Somali police have confirmed that the death toll from last night's terrorist attack at the "Big View" restaurant on Lido Beach in Mogadishu has risen to 32, with 63 others injured.
In a press conference held this Saturday morning, police spokesperson Major Abdifatah Adam Hassan stated that initial reports indicate the attack resulted in significant casualties. "The terrorist attack has led to the death of 32 individuals and left 63 others with varying degrees of injuries," he reported.
Major Abdifatah added that one soldier was killed and another injured during the operation to neutralize the attackers. The official assessment of the damages caused by the incident is still ongoing.
The attack has drawn international condemnation. The Arab Republic of Egypt, through a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration today, denounced the terrorist bombing that targeted the prominent restaurant in Mogadishu, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries.
Egypt expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy to the government and people of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as well as to the families of the victims of this horrific terrorist act, wishing a swift recovery for the injured.
The Egyptian government reaffirmed its full solidarity with Somalia and its support for all efforts to combat terrorism and achieve security and stability in the country.
