The Thai Ministry of Public Health announced that the death toll from the crane collapse onto a passenger train in the northeast of the country has risen to at least 32.
The ministry added in a statement reported by ABC News on Thursday that 64 others were injured in the accident. It noted that 31 of the dead died at the scene, while one person died while being transported to the hospital.
The ministry indicated that the injured were taken to several hospitals for treatment.
The train was traveling from Bangkok to the northeast when the crane collapsed onto the train, causing it to derail and briefly catch fire.
The crane was working on a high-speed rail project when it collapsed and struck the train. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
