The Lebanese health minister Hamad Hassan revealed on Wednesday that the death toll from a massive explosion in the capital Beirut on Tuesday has reached 78, adding that at least 4,000 people have been injured.
In press statements, the minister added that there are many people missing until now.
"People are asking the emergency department about their loved ones and it is difficult to search at night because there is no electricity," he added.
Moreover, Hassan stressed, "We are facing a real catastrophe and need time to assess the extent of damages."
It is worth mentioning that, the explosion comes just two days before the international tribunal investigating the killing of former Prime Minister Rafik El-Hariri, in 2005, is set to announce its decision.
The huge explosion was caused by a large blaze that erupted at a warehouse in Beirut Port, which contained firecrackers, according to primary information.
Many building facades and cars were damaged. The explosion left several people injured.
